PSI assisted the State in developing a master plan and an environmental assessment for a 4,362-acre park which includes an 8-mile long wild coastline along the Kona Coast of the island of Hawai‘i. (2014)

Thirty-Meter Telescope Project, Mauna Kea, Hawai‘i

PSI prepared a Conservation District Use Permit application for the Thirty Meter Telescope project located in the Astronomy District at the summit of Mauna Kea. The telescope, designed in accord with the Mauna Kea’s Comprehensive Management Plan will enable astronomers to see at least 10 times farther and more clearly than the best existing telescope. (2011)

Punalu‘u Stream Intake Modifications
Client: ITC Water Management, Inc.
PSI helped ITC Water Management, Inc. obtain permits needed to reconstruct a water intake on Punalu‘u Stream on O‘ahu. It prepared and helped process applications for a Conservation District Use Permit, a Stream Channel Alteration Permit, a Department of the Army Permit and Water Quality Certification. (2009)
Production Well & Reservoir
Keopu-Pu‘uhonua Exploratory/Production Well & Reservoir
Client: Tom Nance Water Resource Engineering
PSI prepared and processed a Chapter 343 HRS environmental assessment for the installation and operation of an exploratory/production well and reservoir at Keopu on the Island of Hawai‘i. The well is part of the County of Hawai‘i Department of Water Supply potable water system. In addition to preparing the EA, PSI oversaw archaeological, botanical and fauna surveys of the site. (2008)

In order to meet increasing demand for water on the island of Hawai‘i, PSI assisted Tom Nance Water Resource Engineering in preparing permit applications for a new production well and reservoir and associated improvements, including a new access road. PSI staff helped in the preparation of a Notice of Intent (NOI-C) for coverage under the State’s NPDES program and the required Environmental Assessment/Finding of No Significant Impact (EA/FONSI). Wai‘ula‘ula Stream
Wai‘ula‘ula Stream Crossing Permit Coordination

PSI prepared permit applications for a fording of Wai‘ula‘ula Stream. The ford was needed to provide construction and maintenance access to an irrigation well being developed on the client’s property. Permits included a Stream Channel Alteration Permit, Department of the Army Permit, and associated approvals required by the State Department of Health and the State Coastal Zone Management Program.
